The feelings of muslim evacuees

April 09,2003. We visited the evacuation center in Pagalungan, Maguindanao. I interviewed to one of the evacuees named Kadigia Manampad, 42 years old. She has nine children and one grand Daughter.

According to her, they have lived in evacuation center since February when the encounter started between the MILF and the Government troupes. She came from Kabasalan Pikit, but some of them came from different barangay in Pikit.

The estimated evacuees are over 3,000 including the children. According to her, many government soldier were there in barangay to search for the revel soldier and that's the reason why they decided to go to the evacuation center because they are afraid.

Sometimes there is no vehicle; they force to walk from their barangay to the evacuation center. They leaved their things and animals, even how important it is, just to secure their lives especially the children.

There are some evacuees, who wanted to comeback to their farm and continue to work what they left, but they couldn't even finished their worked, because the encounter happened again. They could nothing to do but to comeback to evacuation center, where they believed they are safe. They received food from the government and Diocese of Kidapawan. They their food is not enough. They eat twice a day. Mrs. Manampad heard the story of children why they were afraid because they think, there is a man to get of them.

I pity those children because of war between the government troupes and the revel soldiers in Pikit and many innocent children were effected of the fighting in Pikit .

The feeling of evacuees is fear and frightened of what happen for the war of Pikit.
